New Website on Cars

Okay, so I bought another domain…again! I already told myself that I have enough domains already. But what can I do? I am a certified domainaholic. So I now have more than 20 sites!

But this one just got me interested. This is going to be about cars. The name of the website is New Cars, Used Cars.

Honestly, I don’t know anymore how I am going to maintain all my sites. hahaha Just an addict you know. I bought it a couple of weeks ago from GoDaddy but up until now, I have not yet set it up. Tsk tsk. But I will have to because I really like it.

I am not very good in cars but I kind of like writing about them. So well, I hope I can maintain this and maybe eventually become an expert in cars. LOL

Go Daddy and the SOPA

The famous domain name registration company, Go Daddy, had made a lot of people angry because of their support of the SOPA.

According to Wikipedia, SOPA is

“The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), also known as H.R. 3261, is a bill that was introduced in the United States House of Representatives on October 26, 2011, by Representative Lamar Smith (R-TX) and a bipartisan group of 12 initial co-sponsors.”

Because of this, about 21,054 domains moved out of Domaincontrol.com, which is managed by Go Daddy. Then in a not-so-surprising turn of events, Go Daddy CEO Warren Adelman announced in a statement that they will only support the controversial legislation if and when the “Internet community supports it”.

A lot of people got furious with the online company after an anti-Go Daddy thread on the social site caled Reddit became very popular. Because of that, Godaddyboycott.org was born. It is a site that was set up to let people know of happenings regarding this issue and also show their disapproval with Go Daddy’s support of the SOPA.

Anyway, on the same day, it was also reported by Dailychanges.com that 20,034 transferred to Go Daddy in the same day. If you ask me what this means, then my answer would be, “I don’t know.”

Becoming a Domainaholic

There are people who are into collecting stuff. But there is another breed of collectors today and it has something to do with the internet and blogging. These people are called the domainaholics.

This is a newly coined term that may not yet be accepted internationally but is already accepted among bloggers’ circles. “Domainaholics” may then pertain to people who keep on buying and collecting domain names, whether these are .org, .com, .info, .net, or whatever. They may use it and fill it up with content or they just park it as part of their collection. Or if it is a premium domain name, they might sell it to the highest bidder.

But let us not confuse the domainaholics with people who really buy premium domain names in bulk so that they can re-sell these for a higher price. Some premium names, especially those for big companies, can sell up to $2,500, just for the transfer of rights. Imagine that.

The domainaholics just collect and blog. This author is no different. This author now has 21 blogs, all 19 of them have contents already. The two just needs to be set up. Hopefully this will be it and she will be able to maintain it with quality content.

If you are also a domainaholic, do speak up here and leave a comment. How many domains are attached to your name?
